The Last Of Us Remastered - Part 1

image: playstation.com
In June 2013, Naughty Dog and Sony released The Last Of Us, a Playstation 3 exclusive about a teenage girl named Ellie being escorted across post-apocalyptic America by Joel, a survivor of an outbreak of Cordyceps, a fungus that normally infects and controls insects and arachnids. This strain has mutated to infect humans, and the resulting outbreak has caused society to collapse. Ellie was born after the outbreak, and is seeing the world outside of her quarantine zone for the first time. Last year, the game was re-released for the Playstation 4 console with improved visuals and a new Photo Mode, which allowed the player to pause the game and take screenshots as if they were there with a camera (with limitations of course).

TIME Magazine ran an article about one photographer's experience with the feature, which you can find here.

After the jump are some of the shots I have captured using the Photo Mode feature. More will come as I am still playing through it. When I get to it, I will also include shots from the Left Behind downloadable content (DLC), which is now available as a standalone title.

For comparison, this is what the game looks like during regular play.

And now, Part 1 of The Last Of Us Remastered:

Fellow survivor Tess helps Ellie up.

Joel performs a (relatively) silent takedown on a Runner Infected. Runners are early stage Infected.

One of the things Joel misses the most is coffee.

Desperation can make a man do anything to survive.
"Why did the scarecrow get a promotion? Because he was out standing in his field."

I've got a few more saved to my hard drive but those will do for now. More to come soon. Tomorrow, the next episode of Life Is Strange comes out, might grab some shots there.
